Gradation Lips - Korean Trends
So last time we talked about straight eyebrows (CLICK HERE), a highly popular trend that provides a more youthful and natural look. So today we'll be discussing another fashionable Korean trend - gradation or ombre lips!
Korean and western beauty standards vastly differ. Whilst the latter highlights a bold look with contoured lines, tanned skin and a matte complexion, the former emphasizes a natural look with a youthful, dewy complexion. And what better way to highlight such a look but with an almost there, gentle lip stain. And how do Koreans achieve this? Via gradation or ombre lips! In fact, this look is so popular that you'll regularly see celebrities sporting it in pictorials, movies and dramas. So, Let's find out how to achieve this look!
How to:
Step 1: Get your kit together:
You'll need the following:
- Lip exfoliator
- Nude lipstick
- Your favorite lipstick, gloss or tint in your preferred shade
- A lipstick brush
Step 2: Exfoliation
To get the best possible outcome, you'll need beautiful soft lips with the absence of peeling and dead skin. So be sure to use a gentle lip scrub and/or lip mask.
I recommend the following:
[Tony Moly] Kiss Kiss Lip Scrub
[Laneige] Lip Sleeping Mask
Step 3: Tone down pigmentation

Apply a nude lipstick to your lips to tone down any of your natural pigmentation. This step helps ensure the gradation effect shines through!
Quick tip: If you don't own nude lipstick, just use a moisturizing concealer or cushion foundation instead.
Step 4: Application

Apply your favorite lip product to the inner thirds of your lips and gently blend outwards using your brush (or fingers).
Here are a couple of my favorite lip products:
[LABIOTTE] Chateau Labiotte Wine Tint
[heimish] Dailism Mineral Rich
[heimish] Dailism Gradation Cushion Tint
[MEMEBOX] Pony Blossom Lipstick
[3 Concept Eyes] Lip Color
