It's a sunscreen with a thick texture, Like other physical sunscreens you do have to massage it in for a bit for you not to look like a ghost. I'm light screened so I can't say if there would be a white cast, but something gives me the feeling that this would not be dark skin friendly unless you really work it in.
You definitely can smell the mugwort, which I personally don't mind and enjoy sometimes. there were a few days when my skin was especially sensitive that this made my face a bit uncomfortable, but so far I haven't found a sunscreen where I am completely ok with it 100% of the time.
