Matte black, can be smudged out if you want, but when it sets it's not moving. I use this to tightline or fill in between my natural lashes and false lashes if I have gaps. There's not a ton of product in the tube but I feel like most eyeliners like this are the same way.

I love this product and it does NOT smudge at all throughout the whole day. I have hooded eyelids so basically everything smudges, but just make sure to dry the product before moving onto your next makeup routine and it won't budge or smudge throughout the whole day! highly recommend
