Dude this sponge hurts....it's so thick it feels like plastic, I'll never be using this

When I got this sponge it seemed really soft but when I used it to apply my foundation it was way too dense and hard for me. it's like I'm hitting my face with a rubber ball. it's so dense that when I washed it after applying foundation, it didn't get totally clean and I can still see my foundation stuck in it. I did like the more airbrushed effect it gave my skin compared to using just my fingers but it's too dense. 

Havent used it yet, but it seems very soft and spongy :)
