I didn't really notice any lightening or brightening effects, but goodness my skin started feeling much more supple and smoothly soft after a few days of use. This a product I would gladly purchase again for moisture, maybe I should go through another bottle to notice the lightening or maybe I've used too many products along with this product. Overall I like it, thumbs up from me. :)
