[CHICA Y CHICO]

MAT FIX MATT CUSHION AND CONCEALER REVIEW

by Sandyxo from fromSandyxo

Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Cushion

A matte cushion? Yes please!

Cushion foundation is the world’s current obsession don’t you think! Generally they are more suited for dry skin and designed to give a glowy, dewy look.  I came across Chica Y Chico Mat Fix range on Style Korean website and I jumped at the chance to try.

Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Cushion comes in 3 shades: 21, 22 and 23.  I picked up shade 23 Medium Beige and it is slightly lighter than my NC20-25 skin tone.

I have been trying Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matte Cushion for a few weeks and I must say I really like it.  I am happy to report that no adverse reactions has been noted with its use.

Firstly, the packaging is simple, matte black, sleek and sturdy. It’s slightly bulky for my personal taste but it is standard for cushion packaging.  It comes in a circular compact with a mirror, a black application pad and a flip up plastic cap that prevents the product from drying out.

The claims: A cushion makes your skin complexion looking brighter and smoother without darkening.  Your make-up won’t fade out despite sweating and excess sebum, the matte finish will last for the whole day.

Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matte Cushion provides a medium and buildable coverage. It does an excellent job to even out my skin tone, covering redness and blemishes well.  It dries down quite quickly to a powdery finish but you still have sufficient time to blend.  Using the application pad provided it gives a fuller coverage.  On some occasions, I have been using an oval brush to apply for a more natural finish.  The finish is quite velvety, smooth, matte and transfer-resistant.  Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matte Cushion does a good job of minimising my pore appearance and does not settle into fine lines.  If your skin is not too oily, I think you can get away with not setting it with powder.

On me, Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Cushion lasts for 6-7 hours (over my usual primer) before the product around my nose area starts to break up and my skin starts to look shiny.  Beware that dry patches on skin will be emphasised so it is imperative that you hydrate your skin well prior to application.  I’d like to take time to warm up my moisturiser and patting it into my skin well to warm it up ready for foundation.

- Matte Finish

- Long Lasting

- SPF 35

- Portable

* Cons:

- Cling to dry patches

- Only 3 shades available

- Not compatible with dry skin

Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Concealer

Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Concealer is a liquid concealer that comes in a handy size tube. It glides on smoothly with a velvety matte finish. The coverage is light to medium and buildable.

The doe foot applicator is of a large paddle shape which deposits product on my skin well.  I would use my finger to pat the product on and blend it into the skin seamlessly.  Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Concealer covers my recent red acne scars well and dries down to a powder finish.  It has grip and adheres to my skin effortlessly.  In doing so, it could cling to flakes of dry skin so good skin hydration is needed prior to application.

With Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Concealer, you can layer up with thin layers and it won’t cake up.  I always set my concealers with setting powder and with Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Concealer I would use a duo fibre brush to pick up a minimal amount of powder to set avoiding a powdery look on my skin. I tend to use luminous concealers to brighten up my dry under eye areas.  I have tested Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Concealer under my eyes and as expected it would slightly enhance the fine lines albeit does a good job covering my dark circles.  I would counteract this by using something like Hourglass Ambient Lighting to set the areas while adding some luminosity back.

There is a slight peach undertone in Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Concealer as shown in the swatch below.

Overall, I would definitely recommend checking Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matte Cushion out if you’re on the hunt for a cushion foundation that is compatible with oily skin.  Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matte Cushion is very portable, making it ideal to carry around for touch ups or travelling. Chica Y Chico Mat Fix Matt Concealer is also a gem to have in your hand bags for some re-concealing as you can get away with not setting it with powder.  The only main con with Chica Y Chico Mat Fix range is a lack of shades to accommodate a wider range of skin tones.

Have you tried Chica Y Chico Mat Fix range?  Have you ventured into Korean beauty?

Much love always,

Sandyxo
